Sub 6 is an ultra-compact, passive 6” subwoofer designed for applications that call for increased impact and low frequency performance from the smaller Cuboid and Up ceiling loudspeakers.
It features a custom designed, 6” driver with a 2.5” voice coil, combined with a generously sized low frequency port to improve musicality. Delivering 250W (AES) of power with a peak SPL of 118dB, achieving 37Hz at –10dB, this is a truly punchy miniature subwoofer.
The integral M8 inserts, recessed cable channels, and alternate rubber feet positions ensure that Sub 6 fits easily, securely and elegantly into any application. Sub 6 is small enough to fit through a standard ceiling tile and be secured with the available Sub Bracket for wall or ceiling mounting.
An impact-resistant perforated steel grille protects the driver, and the Sub 6 enclosure is constructed from MDF and finished in black or white textured paint.
A SmartAmp will provide amplification and loudspeaker protection via onboard presets. When teamed with Zone and WebApp, system set up and end user control is straightforward, and can be further complemented by ZonePad wall controllers.

Optimal Audio Sub 6 Subwoofer FAQs
Sub 6 is a passive, ultra-compact 6″ subwoofer for commercial audio installations requiring sub-bass extension alongside smaller ceiling and wall-mounted loudspeakers. Its compact MDF cabinet — small enough to pass through a standard ceiling tile — can be wall or ceiling mounted using the available Sub Bracket accessory, or positioned on the floor. Sub 6 pairs with all Optimal Audio ABS Cuboid loudspeakers (Cuboid 3, 3TX, 5, 5TX, 6 and 6TX) and the Up series ceiling speakers, providing the low-frequency extension these compact loudspeakers cannot deliver on their own. A SmartAmp provides amplification with onboard presets optimised for Sub 6.
The choice between Sub 6 and Sub 10 is primarily about installation space and output requirement. Sub 6 is the smaller cabinet — 200mm × 310mm × 400mm, 11.5kg — suited to installations where space is tight, such as under furniture, behind a bar counter or in ceiling voids. It delivers 112dB continuous SPL with a 6.5″ driver. Sub 10 is a larger, slimline 10″ cabinet — 470mm × 297mm × 353mm, 12.9kg — delivering 121dB continuous SPL with greater bass extension (42Hz at –10dB vs 37Hz for Sub 6). Sub 10 is the natural step up where higher output or deeper extension is needed in installations with more space available. Your installer will advise based on the specific loudspeaker pairing and room requirements.
